This is a portrait of Granville Redmond, a Deaf California Landscape Painter. 1871-1935
His style was part of the California Impressionism and Tonalism. He was a very good friend of Charlie Chaplin. Granville went to California School for the Deaf in Berkeley from 1879 to 1890. His teacher was Theophilus d'Estrella, who taught him painting.
