Description about the painting:
This is the Wild Boy of Aveyron from France in the late 1700's to early 1800's. The boy was named "Victor," after Dr. Jean-Marc Itard brought him to school from the wilderness where he was from. Dr. Itard was Victor's tutor. The boy was taught hours on learning to speak. Finally the boy escaped and Dr. Itard gave up. The boy was orally abused and he arrived back to the wilderness. The hand tree is his home where he felt much safer.
