Monroe Ingram (1867 after 1940) was the first black person to graduate from the Kansas School for the Deaf
in 1889. He played professional baseball, pitching for an integrated team from 1894-1899, but was later
forced to resign due to racist teammates. He later taught for many years at the Missouri and Oklahoma
Schools for the Deaf.
