Description about the painting:
This painting is about the tree that survived thru life. It is about the tree growing tall after years of audism, discrimination, mainstreaming and finally into a journey of Deafhood. There are scars on the tree trunk. There were blue tapes at the beginning of the tree life where ASL was not allowed and struggled to break the tapes and the tree kept growing and the trunk had scars that can never be removed. The hands are the branches where they communicate among each other. The blue-ish gray color background is the color symbol of Deafhood. The tree survives into the journey of Deafhood. Love is shown on the tree. Peace and happiness. This painting combines the resistance art and the affirmation art into the liberation art. Three different themes in this painting.

This is a sketch of the Liberation Tree.
