The category of Liberation in my paintings brings together the principles of Affirmation and Resistance as a collaborative and transformative practice. It moves beyond the recognition of Deaf identity and the critique of oppression toward collective action, agency, and social change. Liberation explores how Deaf individuals and communities can work collaboratively to challenge audist structures, resist linguistic and cultural oppression, and affirm Deaf ways of knowing, being, and belonging. Through this synthesis of affirmation and resistance, my paintings envision liberation as a collective process grounded in empowerment, solidarity, self-determination, and the pursuit of linguistic, cultural, and social justice for Deaf people.
