This is David Call, a well-known Deaf artist who does linocut works. David and I agreed that we would exchange a portrait for each other. He did a portrait of N3 and I did the painting of him, with his favorite De'VIA motif, birdhouse with wings. There is his linocut tool in his bent finger hand. The bent finger represents Deaf in Nepal. The bent finger, because it is part of the five sense, smell, vision, feel, hear and taste. The hear sense is the fourth finger, and it is bent because he is Deaf. With the tool underneath the palm, represents Deaf artist. The birdhouse roof shows a tip of the third eye, meaning wisdom.
