De’VIA: The Manifesto Comes of Age was a landmark museum exhibition at the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the De’VIA (Deaf View/Image Art) Manifesto. Running concurrently was the De’VIA Challenge exhibition at the Dyer Arts Center at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID), Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

It was a tremendous honor to have my artwork included in these exhibitions, which celebrated the history, growth, and impact of De’VIA as an internationally recognized Deaf art movement. I am deeply grateful to the curators, organizers, museum staff, and everyone whose dedication made these exhibitions possible.

As part of the WXXI/Golisano Foundation Move to Include initiative, the television program Arts In Focus produced a special behind-the-scenes feature exploring the exhibition at the Memorial Art Gallery. The program introduced viewers to the history of De’VIA, its founding artists, and the movement’s role in expressing Deaf culture, identity, and lived experiences through visual art. It also provided an inside look at the exhibition and highlighted how De’VIA has inspired generations of Deaf artists around the world.

This exhibition marked an important milestone in the continued recognition of De’VIA within the museum world and helped bring greater public awareness to Deaf art and culture.
