Description about the painting:
This painting is about a young Deaf student being mainstreamed to a hearing school. Deaf students taken to mainstreaming takes away their Deaf mind when the Deaf schools closed down. ASL is embraced by this Deaf person. This is a second version of the original 'Deaf Values Taken.' This painting focuses the primary color on the ASL where a young Deaf student and the background is monochrome: isolation and depression. This painting is inspired by Picasso's painting The Old Guitarist.
