Description about the painting:
This painting is Dr. Andrew Foster. He is an important figure in both African American History and Deaf History. Not only did he established many schools for the Deaf in Africa, he was also the first African American to graduate from Gallaudet University, which granted him an honorary doctorate degree. Dr. Foster died in 1987 at the age of 62.
